Just another day at Work

So as you all know the whole reason why we even moved to New York in the first place was because Steven was able to get such an amazing internship with the Times Square Alliance. So I decided to document where he goes to work everyday so we can remember the only reason why were are here! He also had another event which we have pictures for too!

So this is the door he walks through everyday :) haha

His second event he helped plan was called Summer Solstice. Which was Yoga in Times Square. It was really cool because the theme was "You can have peace and tranquility on top of a Mountain, but can you get that in Times Square?" So of course I was signed up to do this Yoga! It was a little weird... those "Yogis" (As Steven called them) were pretty crazy! ha it was all about worshiping the sun and sending a chant home to someone ??? it was super cool though because we were literally doing it in the streets!

this one is from Steven's window on like the 8th floor

So these are pretty much the weirdest pictures of me this whole trip but we had to put them in!

And now on to my job. I didn't really need one but we wanted money to be able to do everything we wanted! So of course I took a few pics of my store. It was kinda embarrassing because I took these on my day off and I passed my boss while I was taking them :S ha I don't think she saw though! The coolest part about my job is I am one block away from the Radio City Music Hall! It is so cool to see that cute little place every day!

This is the view from literally the front door of the Loft!

Coney Island Mishap.

So as I posted before, we headed out to Coney Island this last Saturday to go check out the cute little pier and see the carnival style rides and games and of course, those hot dogs! We were so excited to go and took that long subway ride down through Brooklyn to the last stop. We stepped out and immediately said "Oh my, there are millions of people here!" We thought ok this was such a bad idea, the famous pier on a beautiful SATURDAY of course was going to be packed! Until we got a closer look.....

We then came across the Mermaid Parade. More like the ruin your Saturday on the hottest weekend of the year, freaks dancing around in hardly anything, cops blocking off the carnival style games and rides parade. What a miserable experience! We tried to get into the park from the front, the side and even the back! We walked around for a few hours looking like herding cows just trying to get into this stupid park! Ugh. it was bad.

this pretty much sums up how we felt that day.

So, needless to say we pretty much wasted our Saturday trying to get around this awful parade. At least we got some good little icey treats out of it! ha Who knows if we will dare go back to Coney Island again, but we do know we'll check for the Mermaid parade!

Show Update

OK. I have been terrible about blogging our latest shows so here it goes!

In the order we saw them....
2. We saw the Blueman group in a place that is actually off-Broadway. We found out it was the exact same show as the Blueman in Orlando so we had pretty much already seen it. But we still had fun!
3. Was the Phantom of the Opera... Which I already blogged about.
4. La Cage Aux Folles. Such a hilarious show! Steven loved this one the very most... which is kinda funny because the whole show is about gay men who dress up like women.... :) ha but it was great! Kelsey Grammer (who we all know) was one of the leads, but the man who stole the show was Douglas Hodge. He won his first Tony this year for best leading actor! (he was that amazing) Steven says he could go see this one again and so far its his favorite! That day was a literal downpour so we didn't get any pictures :( but here is what the sign would look like. ha
5. Chicago. Now this one was My favorite show so far :) I loved loved loved this movie so of course I loved the show. My mom said isn't that show kinda sleezy? I was like, well yep but its fantastic! haha I love it because of the great showgirls. I would love to see this one again! We can't see both of our favorites again, so hopefully we can see just one! But I would recommend this show to anyone who loves that 20's feel.

6. Nunsense. Now I know this one wasn't on our countdown but Steven couldn't resist. This one was also off-Broadway and was in a super small theater! It was pretty funny too. I would say if anyone hasn't seen this show already, you have to see it sometime in your life. Just be prepared for a little bit of weird religious songs... but it was great!
7. The 39 Steps. Again, an off-Broadway show but this was one of the most interesting shows Steve and I have ever seen. It was a cast of 4 and they played so many different caricatures! This was an Alfred Hitchcock play so it was kinda a murder mystery, nothing scary but it was so funny! Pretty much every show you are going to see in Broadway besides phantom is going to be a bit funny. :) But the 39 Steps was so different and fun!
8. Mary Poppins. Now I wasn't too thrilled about this show because I almost hate the movie (Now I really shouldn't say hate because how can you hate anything Julie Andrews does?) But I have a hard time getting through it. The play was very different though! It was exciting and very entertaining. Mary actually flew out over the audience after her performance! Super cute for the kids.

So thats where we stand right now. We have tickets to Promises, Promises tonight and I promise I'll stay more on top of our shows! Almost halfway done though! We are having so much fun watching all our shows! For all you wives out there who's husbands hate the theater I just have to say I'm sorry, because we think it's one of the greatest parts of New York!

Summer Saturdays

We all treasure those wonderful Summer Saturdays.

Swimming in the pool, Popsicles in the sun, taking a walk through the park, Mowing the lawn, playing with the kiddies in the backyard...

Steven and I get to enjoy our Summer Saturdays a little differently around here.

We get to...
Get lost in Central park, find an amazing block BBQ from Americas best pit masters, visiting the Museum of Natural History, spotting rats on the subway, and of course getting caught in that rain. Ok maybe not everything is different :) But we have some great pictures to show from it! We are just loving living here. We really look forward to our Saturdays too because that's when we have all our fun!

Big Apple BBQ

Huge tree at the Museum of Natural History

Beautiful Central Park Castle and the view from the top

Gross little Rat waiting for the Subway like we were

Absolutely drenched standing at a pond in Central Park

Can't wait to see what this Saturday in Coney Island brings! :)

June 11 2009

One Full Year.

It doesn't feel like a full year ago today we were rushing around taking pictures and greeting everyone, but this year has been the best year ever. Marriage is such a gift and Steven and I are so happy together. We will always keep this special day in our hearts, and we hope to continue to have many more wonderful years together!

June 11 2010
We have had the opportunity to spend our Anniversary in New York City so of course we were able to take it to the top :) We spent the night at this beautiful little restaurant called the Fiorentina. It's pretty much like an authentic Italian place that had some amazing dessert.
After dinner we went to one of the best shows on broadway, The Phantom of the Opera. It was so amazing and definitely rivaled the one in Vegas. I can't believe we were able to spend our Anniversary in such an amazing place!

Weather it's one year or fifty, we hope to spend every day loving each other more and looking on to what the future holds.

Taste of Times Square

Steven Had his first event on Monday and it was such a hit! I loved being there even though I was on my own for most of it while he was working. This event is put on by the Times Square Alliance, (which is where Steve is doing his internship) and it's like over 50 restaurants that participate in giving out samples of their best food for super cheap! Everything cost tickets, which was a dollar a ticket, and everything was from 1 to 3 tickets. So you could eat for around 10 bucks and be happy! The food was AMAZING and it was fun to get to know our city. Steven was so cute manning his booth. What a man! :)

Our New Home

Alright I finally got everything organized and clean in our new little apartment! I got some cute new pics and I can't wait to show them off! Our apartment is super white... I am the type of person who has to have color and excitement in the house, it's just not happening with this one. haha So everything is plain and white but you all know if we were living here longer than three months I would do some serious decorating!

So that street picture is what you can see from our window. And that picture of the building is our entire apartment window! The rest are just pics of our room.

So this is a pretty crazy pic, but its a wide picture setting that comes on our cool new camera! Hopefully with this picture you can fully see what our room looks like!

Any guesses on our first show? :)

We got to see The Addams Family as our first broadway show last night! It was so hilarious and we would recommend it to anyone.
The best part, We had front row seats!!!
The even better part, Nathan Lane sweat on us...
Ok, he didn't actually sweat on us but we were that close! They had quite a few famous people performing and it was almost chilling to see their faces so close to us! Anyway, it was great. Steven was laughing the entire time. We were glad we splurged a little and bought front row seats!
P.S. Nathan lane really did throw a flower at me though! :)

A little playing around in Times Square before the show.
Will that boy ever smile in a pic? :)
